I was taught many ways to pray. In church we sat or stood with our hands clasped together and bowed our heads. At home we closed our eyes and held hands (when we said prayer together) and in the evenings my mom would come tuck my sister and I in and we would do the same by the bedside. For years I didn't do any formal form of praying. Occasionally when I felt the need for assistance I would close my eyes and say "Lord, help me." I might even chant it...Years later, in a time of utter confusion and grief I began to pray on my knees every evening before going to bed.
Now I pray all the time. Sometimes I will start off talking to myself during my commute and I will just start praying. Sometimes I get a feeling and I just start thinking or writing a prayer down. I often wondered if I was doing it the "right" way.
Today I realize that prayer is a way to align my mind, spirit and body with the universe. Prayer does not need to be spoken out load or on my knees. Prayers can come in many forms and is personal and intimate for each individual. Because Divinity is within me, I have the potential to have everything that I affirm in prayer and in thought. I will get everything that my heart desires because it is the will within me. I thank you God of the Universe for filling me with your divine presence in the form of my soul. Your energy gives me the power to manifest my destiny. Thank you for helping me see TRUTH and Clarity today and everyday moving forward. Key phrases for today: Prayer is the most highly effective spiritual act one can perform.
