Day 1: Phase 1: Honor the Divine with Truth

Todays first concept is to Honor the Divine with Truth. For some people this may be hard to do because some people have never known the truth. To me this concept is first about accepting the truth. Only then can you honor the divine by living in Truth. The truth as I have come to realize it is as follows:

We are all spiritual and physical beings that have a direct connection with the Divine. The Divine is God. God is the "governing principle" of life. God is creator of all living things. God is the energy at the very core of everything in the Universe. We are connected to the Divine. We all have the power to do great things if we do things using the governing principle of life, which to me is God.

My Dad (RIP) would always call my siblings and I down to the table in the morning for breakfast on the weekends. He would wait for us at the table while smoking his cigar, listening to the birds chirp and watching the sun rise into the sky. He was a relatively quiet man that seemed to be in tune with his surroundings and this made him very intuitive. I sat right next to him at the breakfast table. This made me more receptive to his words and insight that he would often share. I can recall him telling us that our minds worked in tune with the laws of the world. I can remember him saying that our minds were the tool that kept us connected. He went on to make an example using images on a television or like a radio. He said every day you kids listen to the radio and television... You are able to click a button and the image that you want to see or hear appears. He told us that our brains worked the same way. You could send signals out and different things would manifest before you. At this time I was young, about 15 or so. Although I listened to him I didnt really understand how true his very words were. This may have been because he was still confusing. On one hand he encouraged me to use my own mind to think and try new things...on the other hand he was very fearful to let me go and explore different talents and abilities that I had. This almost made me scared to focus on anything that was beyond my parents comprehension level, so I kind of stayed in a box.

Daddy was a very hard working man. He was very skillful in a number of things he was a closet writer, an artist, a carpenter, a mechanic, a dad etc. He was like Superman. I remember him thinking of pursuing entreprenuership but he never did. As a matter of fact he had all the tools that he needed to do his own thing and be successful but he was scared. He was scared for my mom to do her own business. He was scared for me to go to college out of state and pursue things that were non conventional. He was a fearless man that had fears. I believe his fears came from being taught a certain way. I say all of this to draw connection to the facts that many of us have never been truly taught to live free and in our own truth. The truth is that we are not just people here to work and pay bills. Day to day we forget that we came from the essence of the divine and that we are capable of doing great things. From birth we are conditioned by external influences, views, capitalism, greed, working class, poor, impoverised, racially divided, socially classed, killing, hating world. But in the bigger picture none of that mess even matters. The truth is we are all ONE.

Below are the 9 Truth Postulates that Iyanla feels that everyone should know. Exerpt from "One Day My Soul Just Opened Up" by Iyanla Vanzant pg 26-27:

Postulate 1

God is life. God is spirit. God is mind. God is the only power that is in control of my life, spirit and mind.

Postulate 2

God is within you and every living thing. Translated, this means that everything living is a unique representation of God's identity- mind, spirit, and life.

Postulate 3

We've got nothing but time, and it is on our side. This is why we continue to be provided with the opportunity to repeat and re-create our lives.

Postulate 4

God does not punish us. We punish ourselves with guilt, shame, and fear when we choose not to act in concert with our inherently divine nature.

Postulate 5

There is a Divine Order to everything in life. It is for this reason that exactly where you are at any given time in life is exactly where you should be according to the Divine unfolding of your consciousness and life.

Postulate 6

Life is an unfolding of experiences designed to bring to our awareness the impersonal operation of the universal principles sometimes called natural laws. When we are aware that the principles are operating and govern ourselves to live in harmony with them, it becomes easy to understand the experiences we have in life.

Postulate 7

God doesn't bless people. We receive the grace of the Divine as abundance, peace, joy, well-being, and love as a function of what we think, feel and believe about life, ourselves and the Divine.

Postulate 8

Our lives are a reflection of our conscious and subsconscious choices. When we do not choose, we live by default.

Postulate 9

Everybody is born to fulfill a divine purpose, and God has given us everything we will ever need to fulfill that purpose.

Closing Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Today I ask that you keep me aware of the truth.

Guide me as I walk in the truth

Guide my tongue as I speak in the truth

Follow me as i live in the truth.

Amen.- SNash
